A 25-year-old woman from Sikkim, the wife of an army personnel, was trafficked to Delhi where she was allegedly raped by an AIIMS doctor in south Delhi's Hauz Khas area here last night.
The woman's husband is a Gorkha Regiments jawan posted in Rajasthan. She was brought to Delhi on February 20 on the pretext of providing her a job at a beauty parlour.
Police arrested the 27-year-old doctor attached to the Neurology Department of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) for raping the woman while four others, including a married couple, have been arrested for allegedly trafficking her to Delhi and forcing her into prostitution.
The accused doctor has been identified as Mehr Tez (27), a native of Hyderabad, and police sources said he was to get married in two months. He has been living at a rented accommodation in Gautum Nagar area of Hauz Khas for the past one year.
"The woman stayed at his residence for the night where he established physical relationship with her which was consensual," said an official, quoting the doctor's statement.
