KEEP IT ; MEMOIRS OF A SAUDI PH.D STUDENT ;DEATH OF GREAT MEN

It has been indeed a very sad week for Saudis, as we lost a father figure who encouraged us to dream big and made all-out efforts to ensure that we realize those dreams.

We loved King Abdullah. We considered him our father. Our love for him had nothing to do with him being the king. We could feel his love and care. We could sense his determination and desire to create a better world for us. His existence made us feel safer. King Abdullah was very generous and kind. We Saudis could feel the warmth by the way he used to interact with the common people. His humble nature and nice sense of humor always took people by surprise and made them his great admirers.
We lost a father with a pure heart.
May God rest his soul in peace. I personally never felt obliged to praise any king or president or minister and I know that people on duties are obliged to fulfill their duties without waiting for any praises from anyone, but in the case of King Abdullah it is different. We genuinely loved him and we sincerely mourn his death.
His death has created a huge vacuum in our lives and he will always be missed. His fond memories will remain etched in the minds of Saudis forever.
Deaths of great people teach us a valuable lesson. Death is inevitable. Nobody can escape death but we all should strive to contribute to the world so that our achievements remain in the hearts and minds of the people.
It is very sad when people die leaving nothing behind like they have never lived. Great people die leaving a legacy to be proud of and achievements that are long remembered even after their demise.

It is very easy to live a routine less extraordinary life without thinking about the true purpose of one’s life. I myself am a part of King Abdullah Scholarship Program and will always cherish this opportunity and will always remember his name, let alone all of his other achievements. It is a very good time for us to sit and reflect about our purpose of life.
